Violin performance at 2023 Piranesi Award ceremony 

This year's Piranesi 2023 awards ceremony will be enhanced by the performance of top Slovenian violinist Rok Zaletel Černoš, accompanied by Lara Oprešnik on piano.

The international Piranesi 2023 award ceremony will take place on Saturday, November 25, at 6 p.m. in Portorož Auditorium.

The Piranesi award and Piranesi honorary mentions will be presented by the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia, dr. Asta Vrečko, and Anna Ramos, director of the Mies van der Rohe Foundation.

At 8 p.m., the exhibition for the Piranesi 2023 award will be opened in the Monfort exhibition center.

In June 2023, Rok was the first Slovenian violinist and also the only European to perform at the prestigious competition - the Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky Music Olympiad in Moscow. Among the 742 musicians who applied, he was selected among the twenty-five who had the honor of playing in front of an inexorable jury. He was ranked among the 13 best virtuosos in the world.

 

"Rok easily captivates the audience with his artistic and musical talent. When he plays, he shows stylish musicality, virtuosity, a very beautiful sound and superb violin technique." These are the words of Prof. Anton Sorokow, the first concertmaster of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra.

 

As an extremely talented young talent, Rok Černoš was accepted at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana at the age of 16 and completed his undergraduate studies under the mentorship of Prof. Vasilij Meljnikov, where he is continuing his master's studies this year.

 

He has already won a number of awards: 2nd prize at the international Valsesia Musica competition in Italy, promotional prize at the Fritz Kreisler competition in Vienna, reached the semi-finals of the P. I. Tchaikovsky competition in Moscow, 2nd prize at the Stefanie Hohl violin competition in Vienna, absolute prize and 1st prize. prize at the international competition Mladi Virtuosi Zagreb, 1st prize at the national competition TEMSIG, 1st prize at the international competition Niš and 1st prize and absolute victory at the Trieste Ars Nova competition.

 

In addition, he has a lot of experience playing as a soloist with an orchestra - by performing Mendelssohn's violin concerto with the AG UL Symphony Orchestra, he earned the Prešeren Prize for academic achievements. He also performed the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto with the SNG Maribor Symphony Orchestra, the Sibelius and Brahms Violin Concertos with the Vivaldi Symphony Orchestra, Mozart's Fifth Violin Concerto with the Mendelssohn Chamber Orchestra and Vivaldi's Concerto for Four Violins as first violin with the Amadeo Orchestra.

 

He was taught in master classes by eminent musicians such as Maxim Vengerov, Viktor Tretyakov, Stefan Milenković, Igor Ozim, Chaim Taub, Sergej Khachatryan and many others.
