Zsolt Gunther was born in Budapest in 1964. He got his degree at the Budapest University of Technology in 1990. Between 1989 and 1990, he attended a master class at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. At the beginning of his career, he worked abroad for several years. He obtained his doctorate in 2009 from the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design, with a dissertation titled "Inverse Tradition". As a guest lecturer, he gives lectures, writes articles and organizes workshops.
In 1994, he and Katalin Csillag founded their studio in Győr, named 3h architects, referring to the hardness of a pencil. In their buildings, they often challenge architectural archetypes, transforming and rethinking traditional solutions As their commissions grew in size, they relocated their office to Budapest in 2006. The urban environment brought new topics and their work began to feature elements inspired by the density and ornamentation of the metropolis.
