The architecture firm PERIS+TORAL ARQUITECTES, based in Barcelona and founded by Marta Peris and José Toral, is dedicated to researching new ways of living associated with innovative construction methods. Their focus is on addressing the challenges of the climate emergency and housing.
Both teach at Barcelona ETSAB UPC, Polytechnic University of Catalonia, where Marta Peris also holds the position of lecturer. She presented her PhD in 2016, titled "The Japanese House Through the Films of Yasujiro Ozu," published in 2019 under the title "Ozu's House." They have taught at POLIMI Milan and are currently guest professors at EPFL Lausanne.
Their work has been recognized with the Spanish Architecture Award CSCAE 2022, the RIBA International Awards for Excellence and they were finalists for the EU MIES AWARD 2022. Their works have been exhibited at the Cité de l'Architecture in PARIS 2022, Best Architecture Exhibition Spain-Korea SEOUL 2021, in the Spanish Pavilion of the Venice Biennale 2016, at the UIA TOKYO 2011, among others.
