Traces of water - post-flood reconstruction of the Meža Valley

After the catastrophic floods of 2023, interventionist redevelopment, without a comprehensive consideration of the natural, landscape and architectural aspects of the valley's development, has degraded the space in many places and increased exposure to flood risk. In the framework of the workshop, the design studio Zorec analysed the natural and built environment of Prevalje and Ravne na Koroškem. They identified its qualities as well as its weaknesses, which are the result of bad-considered spatial planning. In order to transform the weaknesses into potentials, they propose three measures for the management of the surrounding area, which can redefine the importance of the river for the future development of Prevalje and Ravne.
